Iolite petite plain rounds have a vitreous luster, excellent polish, symmetrical round shapes, very well matched for tone on strand, the pleochroic gems have a violetish blue, grey and colorless hue depending on direction of view, and the transparent bodies have internal characteristics for lightly saturated blue round beads.
