This tool requires approximately 4-6 CFM at 90 PSI. A compressor with at least a 20-gallon tank provides sufficient air volume for intermittent use. For continuous operation, a 30+ gallon tank is recommended.
Yes. Like all Le Lematec tools, it uses a standard 1/4" NPT air inlet fitting that's compatible with most compressors, hoses, and quick-connect couplers from any manufacturer.
Start with 80 grit for heavy filler shaping and weld grinding. Move to 120 grit for blending and feathering. Use 180-220 grit for final prep before primer. For paint removal, 60-80 grit cuts fastest. Aluminum oxide belts offer the best value; ceramic belts last 3-4x longer on metal.
Yes. The 1/2" narrow belt is specifically designed for contour work. Use the exposed belt section (where belt wraps around the idler wheel) for concave surfaces and inside radii. The narrow profile follows complex curves that wider belt sanders and orbital sanders cannot reach.
Air belt sanders are lighter (less motor weight), run cooler (no overheating during continuous use), and produce more torque per ounce. They are the preferred choice in professional auto body shops, metal fabrication, and woodworking. The tradeoff is you need an air compressor, but if you already have one, an air belt sander is the superior tool.
The LE-BS-706B's narrow 1/2" x 13" belt size is purpose-built for tight spaces, weld seam finishing, and detail sanding that wider belt sanders cannot reach. Compared to the larger LE-BS-708B (3/4" x 20-1/2"), the 706B trades sanding coverage for access to confined areas. Compared to air die grinders with sanding attachments, the belt sander provides more consistent, flat contact and faster material removal across linear surfaces.
